Transporting visitors to the past, present, and future of telecomm.
How do you create the museum of the future while teaching about the past? And how can you re-invent a museum as a place that fosters social connection and context?
Commissioned by Brazil’s premier telecommunications company, Oi, Cactus led the redesign for the “Musehum”, a museum of the history - and future - of telecommunications. Utilizing today’s most advanced sensors and display technologies, Cactus designed an awe-inspiring, interactive, and personalized experience for guests.

With a collection of over 400 artifacts ranging from candlestick phones to smartphones, guests are invited to walk through the digital archive and view the evolution of communication first-hand.

The virtual reality experience reveals the historical site’s past by placing guests inside the telephone exchange that once stood. A main station during the early days of Brazilian telephony where switchboard operators would manually connect callers to a requested number.

An awe-inspiring display of how technology shapes the way we communicate.
Upon entering the mirrored infinity room, guests are enveloped in an an ever-expanding, infinite network of data comprised of light, sound, and visual effects. The interactive puts guests and their data at the center of a story that explores our relationship to our devices and the shared relationships they foster.
