Traditional healthcare models are predominantly reactive, with few options focused on long-term wellness and preventive care. In Abu Dhabi, there was a need for a specialized institution that could offer a holistic, science-backed approach to healthier living. Leading healthcare practitioners in the region turned to Cactus to pioneer a new type of healthcare offering centered on preventive health and data-driven care.
The Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi (IHLAD) is a groundbreaking scientific longevity concept led by Dr. Nicole Sirotin, an award-winning internal and lifestyle medicine physician and former Chair of Preventive Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Cactus worked closely with IHLAD's leadership to develop the institution’s strategy, design its brand, and consult on its service model. Our team is also designing multiple IHLAD clinical facilities and a comprehensive digital ecosystem to transform the patient experience.
The brand was built around the vision of creating a world-class longevity institute that is both deeply rooted in the rich heritage of Abu Dhabi and at the forefront of global healthcare innovation.
The visual identity is underpinned by a seven-sided ‘Prism’—which represents natural cycles of the environment and of humans, and also alludes to the seven Emirates. The brand speaks to both deep longevity expertise as well as a vision for ‘healthier living’ that feels innately Emirati.
Our ongoing architectural design collaboration will include two key facilities: a 50,000 sqft flagship clinic and a 23,000 sqft temporary clinic to pilot the program throughout construction.
These spaces are being designed to support comprehensive diagnostics and lifestyle medicine interventions, setting a new standard in healthcare design tailored to the principles of Longevity Medicine.
The Cactus team is also designing the IHLAD digital experience. From at-home digital tools for patients, to digital interfaces within exam rooms, to collaboration tools for specialist physicians, IHLAD will transforming the ways patients, physicians, and healthcare professionals gather, synthesize, and display personal health information.
